Missions Part 1
•April 17, 2011 • Leave a Comment
I have been thinking a lot lately about missions and what the Bible has to say about missions as a whole. We are very knowledgeable with the verse in Matthew 28:19-20(NLT) that says the following “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age”. What we don’t know is that the Bible is full of verses, which tell us not only how to live our life, but also what we should do with the wonderful life that God has given us. That is why I will be trying my best to share some insights that I have written down over the years about missions and what I believe it means to me.
Missions tell us to “come and die” leave everything that you have behind for severing your King (Jesus). He is the one who died on the cross for my sins, and he owns me. When we look at 1st Corinthians 6:19-20 (NLT) we see the following “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body”. We are not our own, and we have no right to live out our dreams, passions and goals in life. Since we are God’s and here for God’s purpose. We were bought by God for a high price, and it would be a sin to do what I want to do in my own life. I need to seek and live out His dream and His passion for my life. Jesus Christ was not passionate about having nails in his hands on the cross. He wasn’t passionate about being scourged, beaten, mocked, and spit upon. He wasn’t passionate about being separated from His father while he laid upon the cross dying for our sins, not his own. Many of us might not be willing to be away from family months at a time, might not like being lonely overseas around the holidays and not thankful when we see ourselves or children get sick. However, when times like those are laid upon us, we need to need finish life in the same way that Jesus Christ finished it up on the cross. He said “not my will but thy (God’s) will be done”. If you want to screw you life up or live a life that isn’t all the way sold out for God, and his will, you need to purse a different life and goal. If you want to live as a solider for Christ and be broken for his name, you instead need to keep pursuing his way and will, not our own will. We all need to keep moving towards the goal of living for God and his purpose in our lives, not the purpose, we or the world makes us believe is the right one. Now many of you might be scared that God will like the topic of my posting is to “GO” and do missions or something like that. When we start to think this way, we are distracting ourselves from His will.
Now back to the verse that I first quote in the beginning from Matthew 28:19-20. It says to “GO” which is an order form God himself. Not a small request or suggestion, but is not just for those few people who “feel a certain calling in their lives” it is for all of us as Christians: all of those that God has saved.
I know all that I have said above might seem like a lot of information to handle, but it comes straight from the World of God. He wants us to live for His story and not our own story or the one that world would have us live. He wants us to “GO” and do missions, not just think about it and most certainly God wants us to live for His will!
Go live for His will and not your own!!
The Art of Music
•May 17, 2010 • Leave a CommentThe music, movies, and television are the language of our culture and society. A conversation that we all are having through art that people use to shape how they think, what their core values are, and even their faith. Since we all as humans have questions, we want to make a difference in the world and what to know more about the purpose of life.
We are to be inspired and challenged by art. So with all that being said. Every week on Monday, I’ll be posting a new blog with a either a clip from a movie/telvsion show or a music video. That shows and shares this value wanting to make a great difference and wanting to know the purpose of life.
